An internship abroad with real added value - for Robin Harms, the four-week stay at the Chinese branch of BREMSKERL-Reibbelagwerke Emmerling GmbH & Co. KG was not only a personal challenge, but above all an operational project task of strategic importance. As part of his training and supported by the EU Erasmus+ programme, he took on a central role in analysing and optimising the cooperation between the headquarters in Estorf and the subsidiary in Hangzhou.
Targeted project work for better site networking
The internship is focussed on the task of analysing the internal processes and communication channels between the two sites. Robin Harms analysed interfaces, identified potential misunderstandings and developed specific suggestions for improving cross-location collaboration. His results are now being directly incorporated into the further development of internal processes.
‘I was able to observe on site where things get stuck in day-to-day dialogue - and how clear structures and open communication can counteract this,’ reports Harms. ‘These experiences not only help me personally but also strengthen the connection between Estorf and Hangzhou in the long term.’
Intercultural expertise as a success factor
In addition to project work in sales and production, Harms gained valuable intercultural experience. The direct comparison of working methods and mentalities provides important impetus for process optimization and the removal of cultural barriers within the company.
A win-win situation for both sides
The internship shows how company learning tasks in an international context not only contribute to personal development but also bring measurable benefits for the company. BREMSKERL is thus clearly emphasizing the importance of international cooperation and practical training.
